Flying training for the Fuerza Aerea del Perú is undertaken by the Escuela de Formación de Pilotos N°51 at Base Aérea Capitán Renán Elías Oliveira at Pisco which is approximately 200 km north of Lima. The training covers both basic and advanced and fixed wing and rotary.
The recent unit structure is as follows:
Escuadrón Aéreo de Helicopteros 510 with Schweizer 300C, in service from 2002 (to be replaced in 2020 with the Enstrom F280FX)
Escuadrón Aéreo Primario 511 with the Zlin 242L, in service from 1998 (being replaced by 18 CH2000 from 2015)
Escuadrón Aéreo de Entrenamiento Básico 512 with KAI KT-1P, in service from 2014 (previously Tucano from 1997 to 2016)
Escuadrón Aéreo de Entrenamiento Avanzada 513 with KAI KA-1P (previously MB339AP from 1982)
Escuadrón Aéreo de Instruccion 514 (disbanded with the withdrawal of the Tucano)
